I've always been a big jazz fan, so when I was approached by the folks of the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival (in Denton, Texas) to create a design for their annual tee-shirt, I dived right in. Since the characters of Charwhimble Valley encompass all kinds of professions, I thought a jazz band would fit in there. This is the first of what I hope will be a long series of images of the complete jazz orchestra, starting with the JazzCats quartet. Wayne, of course, is blowing his saxophone in homage to the great Wayne Shorter, of the jazz fusion master group Weather Report. Cue up any of their recordings, or any of his solo works, and you'll hear those notes coming alive in your ears.

This is a limited-edition print, each copy signed & numbered by the artist. It is created from a film negative made directly from the original artwork, then retouched by the artist, and printed by offset lithography on Cougar Opaque paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
