This is my first Argent Park nude study, playing the dense detail of the Argent style background elements against the brighter form of the figure, and balanced by the heavy solid blacks of her flowing hair. The idea for this piece was two-fold. First, it is an appreciation of the works of master pen and ink artist Aubrey Beardsley, in particular his drawing "Ali Baba", a wonderful mix of stark whites, blacks and details. Second, this was my next attempt at integrating a human figure into the Argent Park world of metallic and jewelled organic forms, after the first more robotic look of the Waiting for Godot³ image. The small areas of detail on the figure are the kernel of the idea of having the human figures eventually become completely covered with such swirling forms, just as the rest of the creatures of this world are, but in such a way that they still stand out and maintain their essential "humanity", as distinct from the more carved-metal look of the other flora and fauna. A finished piece, but also the start of a new idea here.

This is a limited-edition print, each copy signed & numbered by the artist. It is created from a film negative made directly from the original artwork, then retouched by the artist, and printed by offset lithography on Starwhite paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
