This was my first attempt at doing one of the fantasy animals in my Argent Park series in full color. Up to this point I had always visualized them strictly in terms of black and white, where the metallic aspect of their bodies came through the strongest. When I was offered the chance to create a full color image for the Houston Cat show, I took it as an opportunity to broaden the artistic base of the series. And I decided that, if I was going to do color work, I was damn well going to do color work! I made it as bold and brilliant as possible, the strength of the shades and tones acting as a counterpoint to the more detailed finishes I used in the fine-line pen and ink work. Thus "Blue Boy" was born, in a formally posed study of a full figure cat, set against a more abstracted cat face as background motif. This piece established the framework on which all other future color images from the Argent Park series would be created.

--Info on the printing process, plus care & feeding instructions--
This is an open-edition print, created from a film negative made directly from the original artwork, and printed by offset lithography on coated paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
